FAQ

Common questions

Answers before your first visit.

01What happens at my first visit?

Plan on about 60 minutes. You talk with Dr. Carbone about your history and what you want from care, he examines how you move, and he explains what he found and your options. Treatment starts that day only if you agree.

02Is chiropractic care safe?

Every treatment carries some risk. Many people feel sore for a day or so after an adjustment. Rare serious risks, including injury to an artery in the neck, are possible, and Dr. Carbone explains them before treatment. Tell him about your health and medications at the visit. If you have a sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, or chest pain, call 911 or see a physician before booking.

03Will it hurt?

Most people feel pressure rather than pain during an adjustment, and some feel sore afterward. Tell Dr. Carbone at any point and he will change what he is doing or stop.

04How many visits will I need?

That depends on your exam and your goals, so we do not set a number in advance. After the exam Dr. Carbone explains the plan he suggests, and you decide whether to follow it.

05Do you take my insurance?

We bill most PPO plans and some employer plans, and we check your benefits before your first visit. What a plan pays differs from plan to plan. The details are on the How fees work page.

06What if I do not use insurance?

You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. We give you a written estimate in advance, before your first visit, and the doctor tells you the fee for each part of a visit before it happens.

07Do I need x-rays?

Only when Dr. Carbone decides they are medically necessary for you, and he explains why. Many first visits need none. If imaging is needed, we may send you to an imaging center.

08Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?

Please call us first. Dr. Carbone sees adults, and teenagers with a parent present. For a child, or during pregnancy, we ask you to check with your pediatrician or OB first. We do not claim that chiropractic care treats any condition of childhood or pregnancy.

09What if I have seen another provider?

Bring any records you have. With your written permission we will share notes with your primary care doctor or another provider, so your care fits together.

10What is your cancellation policy?

Call as early as you can to change or cancel a visit. Ask the front desk about the practice's current policy.
